Who is Broken Records Music?
I’m Destiny Kathman, and this is Broken Records Music—a name I chose because it’s me too: cracked, jagged, scarred, but still carrying a song.
I dive headlong into the messy, glorious process of creating, and sometimes that means with other artists, and sometimes it means with myself—the luminous, tortured, brilliant being I have to face in the mirror, carrying all the small-town silences, the humiliating shows, the roads that nearly broke me but also made me.
My mission—if I dare call it that—is to listen. To others, yes, but also to myself. To really hear the story that you, or I need to tell. Maybe it’s just one syllable swapped in a lyric that shifts everything. Maybe it’s a whole song that claws its way out, or an album that spills like a fever dream I can’t ignore. I’m here for the tiniest adjustments and the cathedral-sized visions. With you, with me, with us—it’s all the same.
I can’t forget the raw struggle that carried me here, and I won’t let myself forget yours either. The scars, the stories—they belong in the music. They belong in the image we shape, not as some glossy version of who we think we should be, but as the jagged, unpolished truth of who we are. Shout it, whisper it, wail it—it doesn’t matter. What matters is that it’s real.
What I’m offering myself, and anyone I create with, is a space to be fully seen and heard. To make something that doesn’t just sound good but feels right. And I’ll chase that with an obsessive, maybe unhealthy dedication, whether I’m building it for someone else or building it for myself. That’s the gig. And I’m all in—with you, with me, with us.
