Broken Records is an indie label that was founded in 1978 in The
Flint Michigan area. The first artists to be signed to the label was
Jacobs Kelly, a group who toured Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois
and Canada doing mostly covers playing out 5 nights a week 50 weeks
a year and did so for over 10 years. Oddly enough they disbanded just
as they were offered a Major label record deal but couldn't come to an agreement
on selection of song material for their sophomore release. The label
moved to Houston in 1981 and recorded bands like "The Kids" and "The
Brazos River Band" In 2002 it moved back to Flushing Michigan and
signed "Boy Unknown" "Letters For Thursday, Dejection and others but
licensed those masters to their sister label Matchbox Records on
which they were released. Broken Records recently signed After The
Ashes who is taking the nation by storm. Broken Records effective
03/16/2007 has broken off from it's parent company Norkris
Productions, LLC. As Broken Records Moves into it's next phase of
development it will continue to have a strong influence in today's
evolving music scene not only in Michigan but all over the world as
it grows and stakes it's claim in music history. So Stay tuned for
more because we can guarantee you there will be many many more to
come. As stated as the name of After The Ashes debut album which
couldn't have said it better, Thus Bad Begins... |
